Evaluation can lead to a decision to continue, change or stop a programme. It can also provide important evidence that CBR is a good strategy for:

  • enhancing human rights;
  • reducing poverty; and
  • securing the inclusion of people with disabilities in their communities.

Some CBR managers may be worried about carrying out an evaluation because they are afraid of exposing their faults and weaknesses. It is important to understand that no programme goes entirely smoothly, and even very successful programmes have problems along the way. Successful CBR managers must reflect on the problems they experience, learn from them and use their learning for future planning.
