Participatory management

A participatory style of management, in which committees are established to assist with the management of CBR, is strongly encouraged. These committees can be made up of people with disabilities, family members, interested members of the community and representatives of government authorities. Committee members work together to:

  • identify players in different sectors and the resources each can offer
  • invite all actors to discuss the principles of CRPD and important values for CBR
  • discuss roles and responsibilities of all actors
  • identify the vision, goals and purposes of the programme
  • develop action plans
  • mobilize resources
  • initiate new programming
  • monitor how well programmes are working
  • make modifications and changes to the programme as required.
