In the informal economy, self-employment either alone or in a group is the most likely way for people with disabilities to earn an income. Viable self-employment activities include:

  • Making a product, such as potato crisps, clothing or furniture
  • Providing a service, such as hairdressing, massage, repairing two-wheel vehicles or running a cyber-cafe, and
  • Selling goods, e.g. running a shop, restaurant or stall
