Political participation includes a broad range of activities by which people develop and express their opinions about the world and how it is governed, and try to take part in and shape the decisions that affect their lives. These activities range from developing ideas about social issues such as disability, joining common interest groups such as disabled persons’ organizations, and campaigning at the local or national levels, to engaging in the formal processes of politics, such as voting, joining political parties or standing for elections.
