Health promotion addresses those determinants of health that can potentially be modified. These include:
- individual health behaviours and lifestyles;
- income and social status;
- education, employment and working conditions;
- access to appropriate health services;
- stigma and prejudice;
- the physical environment.
Health promotion does not require expensive drugs or elaborate technology; instead it uses social interventions such as health promotion campaigns.
