    1. What feelings and thoughts do you have about people with disabilities and social inclusion?

    2. What are the norms in your community in terms of attitudes, beliefs and expectations about people with disabilities?

    3. What challenges do you and the CBR staff face in supporting people with disabilities in being included in society?

Being actively included in the social life of one’s family and community is important for personal development.

The opportunity to participate in social activities has a strong impact on an individual’s:

    • Identity
    • Self-esteem
    • Quality of life, and
    • Social status

Because people with disabilities face many barriers in society they often have fewer opportunities to participate in social activities.

This module highlights the importance of these issues in the lives of people with disabilities and therefore the need for CBR to address them.
