When first conceived, CBR had a strong focus on issues of physical impairment. Issues such as mental health, leprosy, HIV and AIDS and humanitarian crises were not the primary focus of CBR.
CBR has since undergone major re-conceptualizations and is now a multi-sectoral and participatory development strategy. Because of this, these issues are now being addressed to a greater extent by CBR.
It is therefore important that CBR takes steps to address:
